"Big Blue" -  #112

Original - 2004

Earth Tower

"Big Blue" takes another hit June 2008.  Look for future reincarnation.

Above: "Big Blue" turned into a Bird Feeder!

Hope this reincarnation lasts a while!

4/24/2010 - This was one huge tower years ago. This last break didn't allow me to glue these two pieces back together.  So I chipped away at a good break point and added the top piece.

This time I glued the plate to the vase as the squirrels would jump on it from my tree and plate and food would go flying!

5.10.2010 - Working on mosaicing the top of Big Blue. This is killing my back!

4/18/2010 -Repairing Big Blue for about the 4th time.  This last time it fell because I was too busy to get in the garden and simply upright it.

18/201

Well, the globe didn't work for this project; so instead, I attached this form instead.  This represents about 2.5 hours of work.  I'm not planning it out, just going  along with whatever comes out of my head. Scary.....

This will be about 5 feet tall I think.  I'll have to measure when I'm done.

Title:    "Aquarius" #122

Dimensions: 29.5 inches high without ball, 39" with ball

Weight: about 40 pounds   Base Bottom Width: 12"

Mosaic Tower Art

Comment:  This tower has some interesting tiles that have pattern in and of themselves.  There are intense olive greens, rust red, tan and brown, but also blue greens and touches of pink and purple. Sort of 60's colors.  I've added some blue/green smalti to catch the sun, beach shells,  and am adding for the first time pieces of broken red glass bead.   A rust colored grout will complete the work.

The Maine bell is ringing;

Hammocks are on the roof;

Flowers are blooming, baby birds a joy to behold

I breathe in the scent of Spring....
