11/17/03 - Stone 1
This is the beginning of a 2' by 8' sidewalk
that
I'm making for the south entrance to my garden. I plan on having a new
gate (out with the chain link!) and hopefully a new wooden fence.
Then, I can begin landscaping. |

Art is influenced not
only by your passion for it, but by your mood when
working on it.

12/17/03 - Stone 3
I'm trying to continue the flow of design
from one tile to another. Often it's harder to show restraint with a
design then it is to go BEZERK! |

12/30/03 - Stone 4
Here I'm working towards three colors. Greens on the left, mustard
yellow in the middle, and blues/purple in the center. Here I'm
also experimenting with different grout colors.

1/1/04 - Stone 5
Am
beginning to tire at this point, but this is a lot of square footage to
cover. The gate is done and stained a natural redwood.
Am already thinking about what plants to use.

This stone color is influenced by the
time of day the picture was taken. It really looks more like Stone 5
and 7. I love the color and interest the sidewalk adds to an
otherwise difficult area of the garden to landscape. |

2/7/04 - Stone 7
This has been a very satisfying
project. Was able to play around with design ideas and have fun with
it. The south side of my home gets intense boiling sun and heat in
the summer, so I've added a garden path that will give me loads of
maintenance-free color all year long. |

2/7/04 -Stone 8
Finished
for now. Very happy with this job. Can't wait for mid summer
when perennials are in full bloom and I can take pictures. Plan on
continuing sidewalk probably another 8 feet eventually. I've learned
a lot about proportion and scale of design with this project.
